Privacy policy
canaicrawl is a free checker run by a small team. This page says what data it handles, and it is written to match what the service actually does.
The checker
When you check a site, the address you entered is sent to our server, which reads that site’s robots.txt, llms.txt and sitemap.xml and requests the page you named as canaicrawl, as a browser if that is refused, and as each of 30 bots. The result is kept in our server’s memory for ten minutes so a shared link opens instantly, then discarded. We do not build a history of the sites you check.
Your IP address is used in memory to limit how many new checks one visitor can start per hour. It is not written to a database. Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, the address you opened, time and browser) to keep the service secure and to diagnose faults; they are rotated and deleted automatically.
Monitoring early access
If you request early access to monitoring, we store your email address, the site you entered and the time on our server, and we send you one confirmation email. We use that address only to tell you when monitoring is available for your site and to answer your questions. We do not sell it or share it with anyone except the email provider that delivers our mail.
To be removed from the list, email info@canaicrawl.com from the address you signed up with and we will delete the record.
Cookies and tracking
canaicrawl sets no cookies and loads no third-party fonts or images. It uses one third-party script, Ahrefs Web Analytics, to count visits to its pages. The script’s code contains no cookie or browser-storage calls, and it reports each page view, with the page address, referrer, browser and approximate country, to analytics.ahrefs.com, where Ahrefs processes it for us under its own privacy policy. The addresses you type into the checker are not sent to it, because they travel as a request to our own server rather than as a page view; the report’s link, however, does carry the address in its URL, so a page view of a shared report link includes it. If you block scripts from analytics.ahrefs.com, nothing on the site stops working.
If your site was checked
Anyone can check any public site, the way any visitor could open it. A check sends about 35 requests to the site from our server, each identifying itself in its user agent (our own requests carry canaicrawl and this domain). We never log in, submit forms or fetch anything beyond the page named, robots.txt, llms.txt and sitemap.xml. If you would rather your site were not checked, email info@canaicrawl.com.
Your rights
You can ask what data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to its use by writing to info@canaicrawl.com. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
If the service starts handling data differently, this page changes first. Contact: info@canaicrawl.com.
